Angie's Birthday....Almost 30!

June is the perfect time of year in Japan. It is not too hot or too cold. It's also the time of year for Angie's Birthday. Being that we are in Japan and could not be surounded by family I decided that the next best thing to do was to throw a surprise party for her. I wish that I could have taken the credit for putting it all together, but that would be a stretch. When you don't speak the language and don't know where to find party supplies, then it's hard to put everything together. But I do know how to ask others for help (sometimes) and that was what I did. I found out that by not speaking the language is easer to keep things a secret. After the party was over I was talking to a few of the guests and they said that they talked openly about the party all the time. In fact, they would talk about it when we were standing right in front of them! All they had to do was remember to only speak about it in Japanese. It was a great time and we had a about 20 people from our church and also our neighbors down the street. I had one of Angie's friends take her shopping to get her out of the house and then everyone came over. Angie was completely surprised!
